As many of you know, I am running for Denver Public School board... Why? I have always promoted the love of learning through healthy living. Physical activity, music and the arts - and the development of the whole system - AMP the Brain! (the acronym for aRT, mUSIC, & pHYSICAL FITNESS.) This school board campaign is just one more way to help people make healthy behavior decisions (that can translate to higher "academic achievement" in education and in creative probelm solving for this changing world.)
With my financial background, I will be able to help figure out creative ways to keep AMP in all neighborhood schools - in spite of the tough economy and budget cuts. My research background and experience with "learning differences" will also help in deciphering so much that is confusing to the general public about our public education system. (Hey, this is just like some of the school budgets I am reading - more than 100%) Here's to Thomas Jefferson's ideas and to continuing to believe we can all make a difference on this planet! Gotta go teach a Tai Chi Chuan class and stay centered during this campaign for the hearts and minds of our society. Keep on singing, dancing and problem solving!
